Bensimon : a family story
At the end of the World War II, Serge and Yves Bensimon’s grand-father start his business in importating American second hand clothes in France. In 1980, his two grandchildren decide to follow this tradition and found the Surplus Bensimon. Travelling through the world, they bring back uniforms, work clothes that they customize with a personal touch. 1984: First Bensimon Collection, a line for men and women inspired from the military and the travel. Colourful, casual and elegant, glamorous and functional, the Bensimon’s safari jacket, the Jodhpur, the Zip pullover…creat the surprise. Symbol of this success story, La Tennis Bensimon with its hundred colours which has immediately been adopted by the fashion community and naturally became in 25 years a “must have” in the women’s wardrobes. 1986: Opening of Autour du Monde, the first Bensimon’s store in the Marais area in Paris. Since then, more than 20 others similar stores, authentic, natural, colourful, contemporary and timeless has been created. 1992: opening of the concept store Home-Autour du Monde. For the first time in Paris a store is presenting in an open space, decoration items, textile collections, artist exhibitions, music, books, perfumes and cosmetics.  |
