Its sleek grasshopper-like design makes this floor lamp an icon of 1950s design. Swedish-born designer and architect, Greta Magnusson Grossman is greatly influenced by European modernism, which she will bring to her projects and works in California, while blending it with the culture and lifestyle of Los Angeles. She met a number of personalities and these relationships led her to design a line of lighting fixtures (including the Grasshopper) for the Barker Brothers furniture store. The designer described her own designs as bringing "brightness, lightness and interior comfort".
